My mother suffers from advanced dementia. Often called “The Long Goodbye”, it is also a long grieving process, and it is beyond complicated. But the length of time involved has also provided me with time to adjust to losing her, and what I found found, especially during the “sundowning” hours, is that simple displays of love have proved invaluable, both to me and to my mom
